In 1991, a small group of individuals decided to create an arts organization in San Jose California, with the purpose of promoting Vietnamese American Arts in the community. Through hard work and perseverance, this group gave birth to the Association for Viet Arts (AVA) in 1992.

Since that year AVA become an important part of the South Bay community, serving as the first nonprofit tax-exempt Vietnamese arts organization in the Bay Area. From 1992 to early 1997 AVA has produced more than 40 events with a combined audience of more than 3,500 people.

Our Mission Statement

Association for Viet Arts (AVA) is a San Jose based nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of artists of Vietnamese heritage.

AVA's mission is to foster and promote the excellence and vitality of Vietnamese and Vietnamese American performing, visual, and literary arts.

The specific purposes of AVA are:

To nurture the art of the Vietnamese Americans in the Bay Area in order to contribute to the cultural advancement of our society.

To provide the opportunity and the environment where the Vietnamese Americans can express artistically the individuality.

To foster cross-cultural understanding of artists of Vietnamese American heritage to the Bay Area community.
